Is an online wedding ceremony legally binding?
Yes. As long as you hold a valid marriage license from a state that allows remote solemnization — currently Utah, for our ceremonies — your video ceremony results in a legally recognized marriage, the same as an in-person one.
What is a Utah online marriage license?
It's a marriage license you apply for entirely online through the county clerk, without needing to visit in person. Once issued, it can be used for a ceremony performed over live video by a licensed officiant.
Do we need to travel to Utah?
No. Both the license application and the ceremony itself can be completed remotely — you don't need to live in, or visit, Utah at any point.
